SAN JOSE, California (CNA) — The Vatican’s Congregation for Bishops has ordered an investigation into Bishop Oscar Cantú’s handling of allegations of clerical sexual abuse and misconduct. The investigation is being carried out under the provisions of Vos estis lux mundi, Pope Francis’ 2019 law for holding bishops accountable in the handling of sexual abuse cases. Kansas City archbishop advocates against death penalty, despite being son of murder victim

(CNA) — In 1948, Fred Naumann was the assistant manager of a St. Louis liquor store. One night, a week before Christmas, Naumann told an employee to help unload a delivery truck. When the employee refused, Naumann fired him. They argued, and then the man turned around with a pocketknife, and slashed Naumann’s throat. He died before he reached the hospital.
